·         WCPS will be on a regular schedule.  WCPS will not extend the day or dismiss early.

·         Parents are free to check their children out of school if they so desire. 

·         Students will not penalized for being checked out of school. 

·         All Speedwell Elementary School students will be provided a safe and approved pair of glasses provided by the Virginia State Parks.  The glasses are on the NASA approved list and meet ISO12312 requirements.

·     According to NASA interactive maps, the Speedwell area is expected to begin around 1:10 p.m. and peak at 2:38 p.m. and tapering off after 4 p.m.

·      Speedwell teachers will allow students to view the eclipse during periods of the event with safety glasses on.  

August 15th a newsletter should have come home, at the bottom of this newsletter there is an opt out form can be completed and returned to school if you wish for your child not to participate.
